Fox Valley Home Educators is a Christ-centered non-denominational home schooling support group.
Dear Fox Valley Home Educators Members and Friends,
At our last meeting of the previous year, we considered ways to keep us connected on a monthly basis but not have the responsibility on any one person. It was decided that scaling back the parents’ meetings and ramping up the kids’ events was the best way to do this.
This year every other month will feature an activity with our children in mind. This could be a field trip or an activity evening. The alternate months will be geared for adults. As has been our custom, children will be allowed at the parents’ gatherings, but the focus will be on encouraging the adults.
Here is our tentative schedule:
- August 27th – Kick-off meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Prasil's home
- September 10th – Field Trip to Royal Oak Apple Orchard
- October 20th – Parents’ Support Group meeting at the Lum’s home with Guest Speaker Elena Perez
- November 12th –Science/Nature Expo Night at South Elgin Community United Methodist Church
- December 5th – Christmas Potluck Dinner at the Russell’s home
- January 19th – Dessert & coffe at the Lum's home 7:00 p.m. -Topic for discussion will be Vision for Next Year. Bring a treat to share. Seven or eight pieces will be plenty. Coffee, water a paper products will be supplied. Library returns will be accepted.
- February 23 – Field Trip – Missionary Culture Fair 6:30 PM, Jubillee Christian Center.
- March 30th – Literature Expo Night – at Jubilee Christian Center, 677 Luda St., Elgin. Doors open at 6:30 PM. Program runs from 7:00 - 8:30 PM. Lights out at 9:00 PM.
- Third week of April – Field Trip – Day and Location TBD
- Third week of May -- Curriculum Swap/Share/Sale
- June 4-6th ICHE Convention in Naperville
- Third week of June – Year-end Meeting Caribou Coffee, Bowes & Randall
